Not Falling Apart, Just Tired

Hey Friend, welcome back to Soft Days Collective.

Life has been a little complicated the last few weeks, and if I’m being honest, I’m just tired. Not necessarily in a dramatic, everything-is-falling-apart kind of way. Just tired. The kind of tired where the little things take a little more effort than usual, where my brain feels full before the day has even really started, and where I can tell my capacity is running a little lower than normal. I’m still showing up, still doing the things that need to be done, still moving through life, but there’s a little less room in me for everything else.

I’ve noticed myself feeling more overwhelmed, more easily overstimulated, and a little closer to that familiar feeling of okay, my brain has had enough now. And honestly, sometimes even the things I normally use to unwind don’t feel restful. I’ll think, Tonight I’m going to curl up and read my book. That sounds lovely. Then I’ll open it, read the same paragraph three times, realize I haven’t absorbed a single word, and find myself thinking about something I need to do tomorrow, something that happened three days ago, or some completely random thought my brain decided was suddenly very important. Apparently, even reading a book is asking too much of my brain right now.

And I think that’s where I’m at. Not falling apart. Not giving up. Just recognizing that I’m tired and that I probably need to stop expecting myself to operate at full capacity when my brain is clearly asking for a little breathing room.

Life has a funny way of continuing to move even when you need a minute to catch your breath. There are always things to figure out, decisions to make, plans to change, and unexpected little adventures waiting around the corner. Sometimes you pivot, find your footing, and then realize there’s another hill waiting for you. I’m learning that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m on the wrong path. Sometimes it just means I’m in the middle of it.

So I’m trying not to overthink this particular season. I’m trying to notice what I need without making it into something bigger than it is. Maybe I need more quiet. Maybe I need to spend some time outside. Maybe I need to put the book down and let my brain wander instead of forcing myself to relax. Maybe I need an early night, a slow morning, or a little less pressure to have everything figured out.

There’s no profound wisdom today. No perfectly packaged lesson or big revelation. Just a little honesty from me to you: I’m here. I’m okay. I’m tired. My brain is loud, my capacity is a little low, and I’m feeling all the feels at the moment.

And maybe that’s enough for today.

I’ll keep taking it one soft day at a time.
